Almost Spring

I’m watching the yard.  There are signs of growth – little buds and birds scurrying to fix up nests.  This is my favorite time of year.  Spring is magical in all its ways.

Wyoming Days

The first days of living on the ranch and in Wyoming revisited.  That old building should have remained the rooster’s roost!  But, it was ours, with a few changes and upgrades 🙂 until we were able to settle on where we would build our own home.  I was young.  I don’t remember really how long we lived there.  But, it was long enough to learn to rope, ride and shoot guns.

the warmth of sun

Those were some cold times.  I looked for warmth anywhere I could find it.  It brought us close together for awhile though.  When we went to the mountains, we always sat around a huge fire and sang western songs.  My dad played guitar and knew a lot of the Gene Autry stuff.  In between chattering teeth, we all had fun!

2011

God Bless everyone and may the New Year be the happiest one ever!  It isn’t the challenges that define us;  it’s how we handle them that does!  Embrace the New Year!  Embrace yourselves, embrace each other … and lets go do it together!  Big hug!

Blackbirds

In stillness, without moving a muscle, the scarecrow watches over the crops.  These odd and scary looking creatures were all over Colorado and Wyoming when I was a kid.  And, I’m sure that I was more scared of them than the birds were!

Snowbound

Years back we had taken our shephard to Mammoth Mountains.  There was still snow on the ground and he loved it.  In fact, he went crazy for it.  He ran and slid and tried to bite it.  It was like he needed medication or something!  Soon, he was covered in white, barking and sliding and suddenly,  it struck me:

There were clouds of snow and a husky shepherd bark in the middle of it all.  Kimbo looked like he was smiling from ear to ear — either that or he was frozen and couldn’t move his lips anymore!  ha!

Tonight, many years later, our dog:

by the fireplace …
my dog still runs
in his sleep

Be safe and enjoy this beautiful winter season of holiday fun and family.
